Last Week in Beauty & Wellness: Asia Leads Growth, Weight Loss Drugs Create a New Skin Need and China Opens Early Guidance

Six stories from 19 to 25 October 2026, and what they tell brands growing in China and Asia.

Two global beauty groups reported last week, and in both the fastest growing region included Asia. Here are six stories from 19 to 25 October 2026, with our reading of each.

1. L'Oréal grows fastest in SAPMENA-SSA

L'Oréal grew 7.2% like for like in the third quarter. Its fastest region, SAPMENA-SSA (South Asia Pacific, Middle East, North Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa), rose 19.2%. L'Oréal says growth there came from winning new consumers, with India and Indonesia accelerating, Vietnam growing strongly and online keeping outstanding momentum in Southeast Asia and India.

Our reading: growth in Asia's newer markets is being won online, one new consumer at a time. That is daily work for a team on the ground.

2. Puig's growth is led by Asia Pacific

Asia Pacific was Puig's fastest growing region, up 17.9% like for like over nine months and 12.9% in the third quarter, helped by its performance in digital channels.

Our reading: fragrance and makeup groups are finding their next growth in Asia, and digital channels are where it shows first.

3. Beauty groups chase the GLP-1 skin need

Galderma, Natura and L'Oréal are testing treatments and products with GLP-1 users for facial sagging and volume loss, Reuters reported. Boston Consulting Group estimates revenue from these clinical treatments could grow from about $700 million to $2 billion over five years.

Our reading: weight loss drugs are creating a new skin need worldwide. Brands with clinical proof for firmness will tell a stronger story in China, where efficacy claims must be backed by evidence.

4. Dove unveils its first fine fragrance

Dove unveiled its first fine fragrance, a limited edition that smells like its Original Beauty Bar, created after years of requests from its community.

Our reading: listening to a community can open a whole new category. In China and Asia those conversations happen on social platforms every day, and someone has to be there to hear them.

5. China opens early guidance for new ingredients and claims

China's National Institutes for Food and Drug Control (NIFDC) published a trial pre filing consultation mechanism for cosmetics with new efficacy claims on 20 October, then on 23 October a trial guidance mechanism for new ingredients, with a priority review track for selected innovative ingredients.

Our reading: China is inviting innovation in earlier. Brands with a genuinely new ingredient or claim gain from talking to regulators before they file.

6. Amorepacific shares its skin longevity science

Amorepacific presented its skin longevity research at InnoCosme Anti Aging Tech 2026, including a ginseng compound concentrated 6,000 times for Sulwhasoo and an AI model trained on more than 1.2 million skin images to predict ageing.

Our reading: longevity is becoming the language of premium skincare in Asia. Brands that explain their science clearly will travel furthest.

The thread

  • Win new consumers where they are. In Asia's newer markets, online carries the momentum.
  • Follow the digital channels. They are where Asia Pacific growth shows first.
  • Back a new skin need with proof. Firmness evidence makes the story.
  • Listen to the community. Years of requests opened a new category.
  • Talk to regulators early. China's new guidance makes that easier.
  • Explain the science clearly. It travels furthest.

In every story, growth followed proof, close to the consumer. That is how ÉDELSKIN works with brands in China and Asia: a dedicated team handles marketing, social media, data-driven optimisation and daily operations, and the brand owns everything.
